that's one crazy fish! i was down at pike's market the other day and the famous fish-toss stand had one of these bad boys hanging close to the edge of the counter with it's gaping jaws open like in the pic. however, what the ice concealed was the terror of all children- a little string was attached to it's tail... burried in the ice. the guys would pull the string and make the fish move whenever some kid was up close checking out the teeth... needless to say, i watched from a distance and enjoyed the proceedings a little too much...
wow thats great i've gotta go check that out. this guy is monkfish, named so because of the way it almost 'chants' when it's brought ashore. its breathing sounds reallys scary. for all it's fangs its only just a bottom feeder. but sometimes snatches whole birds from the surface. ok i'm done with my little bio fact sheet for the day.
