it's a film still from a documentary i saw a long time ago. so yes, its a real shot, it's just that they used 35mm film so there's a warmer quality to it. it's pretty amazing stuff all the dots and lines.
wow i just found some interesting stuff about this mysterious box called ka'ba. this is of course the holiest muslim city of mecca and this place is believed to have been built by adam and later rebuilt by abraham and ismail to reflect a certain house in heaven.
the northern corner is partially built by metorite stones. inside it's empty, except for a couple of tablets and cloth. the stone is black inside and supposably at one point was white when the earth was made and now has turned black with the sins of man.
in islam, the ka'ba is the geographic point at which they pray. there are heated disputes over whether you should pray in a straight line to this place or adjust for global distortion. some muslim carry a 'qibla compass' to help them find the exact direction to pray.

this is visually intriguing! i can't tell if it is a picture of actual people taken from far away or if this is model of some sort. so, what is it?

i think it's supposedly where abraham was going to sacrifice isaac...i know for sure that it's a sacred site for muslims
