as a wise friend once told me, just picture the person as a child, imagine what it was like to be them. how did he have to be in order to survive in his world? all of the sudden i have accessed empathy and compassion... a step closer to seeing him with human eyes.
your words do strike me. the first take sees a typical, washed up fan living in the obliviousness of out grown childhood. an easy target for mockery. then there's the humanity aspect which i find profound in your description, of the secret , vulnerble joy of childhood. and also the comedy of a man juxstaposed in an elaborate cardboard outfit of his own obessession and pride. rather than completely drain the humor with full seriousness i think both sides are vital to seeing an image like this with appreciation. to see him as a balanced human. thanks for being my other half.
